The Tbilisi State University Museum was created in 2006 by decision of the Representative Council of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. All university collections that existed either independently, or attached to various faculties, were merged and included in the new Museum.

Today, the TSU Museum incorporates the Museums of Archaeology, Geography, Zoology, History, Paleontology as well as the Monographic and Vazha-Pshavela Memorial Museums.  The Museum’s reserves contain many unique objects and exhibits, collected by the founders of Tbilisi State University, and collections are still being acquired.
