The Museum of Paleontology was established in 1924 at the TSU Department of Geology and Paleontology under the guidance of the famous scientist and Acamedician, Alexander Janelidze, for whom the Department was named. The Museum of Paleontology is replete with fossils discovered in Georgia and from the North Caucasus (mainly Dagestan), Trans Caucasia, France and Spain. Today the Museum houses collections contributed by Georgian paleontologists that comprise tens of thousands of objects.
