Tbilisi State University Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia met with TSU students who won prizes in the first Georgian Chess Cup. The tournament, in which the TSU students took third place, was held among teams from accredited Georgian universities.
The Rector congratulated the students on their success and suggested holding similar events within the university.
“We fully support you and all students interested in this field. We can plan more events, where more students and professors can participate and showcase their abilities,” said Jaba Samushia.
The first University Cup in Chess aims to further popularize chess among young people. The organizers of the event are the Georgian State University of Sport and the Chess Club 64.
Twelve student teams from various universities participated in the tournament. The competition was held in accordance with the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rules, allowing participants to test their strategic and intellectual abilities in a competitive environment.
Students from various faculties performed on behalf of TSU: Luka Ambrosashvili, Nikoloz Darsadze, Lile Koridze, Mariam Dolakidze, and Vasiko Shapovalovi.
All members of the team actively participate in chess tournaments and championships, both nationally and internationally.
