Call for applications for the research internship program at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany) for TSU students of Ph.D. level studies.

!!! Physical mobility will depend on the epidemiological situation in Georgia and Germany, as well as on entry and stay regulations in the host country.

The given call is open to Ph.D. students of Tbilisi State University from the Department of Physics and the Department of Human Geography

Duration of the scholarship:  3 (three) calendar months;

Full amount of scholarship:   3.000 Euros*;

Mobility Period: research internship should be implemented until the end of 2022.

* Selected scholarship holders must reimburse the cost of international travel and travel insurance themselves!

Prerequisite for admission for Ph.D. students is one of the following documents proving proficiency in English or German at B2 level:

A) In case of English language - TOEFL (90 iBT), IELTS (6.5 minimum average score) or CAMBRIDGE (FCE) certificate taken during the last 4 years;

B) In case of the German language - TestDaF (TDN 3), DSH (DSH 1), DSD (B2), Goethe Certificate (90-100) taken during the last 4 years;

C) The result of the institutional test in English or German organized by the University (not less than 71 points), which is valid during the semester of testing and the next 1 semester (respectively, the results of the tests of March 2 and October 6, 2021, are valid for the purposes of this competition);

D) A certificate of study abroad at the university level for at least 1 semester (where German or English was used as the language of instruction)

Participant selection process:

1. Checking the electronic application and relevant documentation (Tbilisi State University)
2. Interview with Candidate Selection Commission (Tbilisi State University and RWTH Aachen University)
3. Final Selection / Scholarship (RWTH Aachen University)

List of application documents:

1. A copy of a passport;
2. CV in Europass Format in English or in German ;
3. Certificate of enrollment at TSU (in English);
4. A Transcript of Records of current academic level (in English; the document should indicate the GPA);
5. Proof of foreign language proficiency (one of the references in the first part of the statement, in the admission requirements);
6. Scanned copy of Master's degree;
7. Master's Degree Supplement with GPA Indication (in English);
8. Letter of motivation not more than 3 pages (in English or in German); including the outline of the research plan; Technical characteristics: Font - Times New Roman, font size - 12, line spacing - 1.0, fields - 2 cm. The cover letter should be written in the language that will be the grantee's working language during the research internship period;
9. Letter of Interest issued by the host university (official letter, or consent/e-mail received by the relevant academic secretariat and/or professor of the RWTH Aachen University);
10. A letter of recommendation in English or German (on the electronic mobility management portal mobility.tsu.ge you must enter your recommender data in the recommender field. A link will be sent to the recommender by e-mail, where he/she fills in the recommendation online

Ph.D. students interested in applying for a research internship scholarship program should register on the online registration portal mobility.tsu.ge, upload the full application package (in PDF format) and submit it no later than 14:00 January 14^th, 2022.

Please note that the mobility management portal mobility.tsu.ge mobility.tsu.ge:

• Does not register applications after the expiration of the above deadline (14:00, 14^th of January, 2022.);
• Do not register an incomplete application package. 
• The application form is considered electronically submitted only after pressing the send button. 
• Upon successful submission of the application, the applicant will receive a relevant email notification.
• The date and time of the interview will be communicated individually to all applicants on the e-mail address indicated in the portal mobility.tsu.ge.
• Applicants will be interviewed remotely!

b) Finances and restrictions related to Covid-19

Please note that:

• Physical mobility may be related to compliance with administrative rules and regulations related to the entry into the recipient country, such as possession of a full Covid-19 vaccination certificate, PCR testing (single or multiple), quarantine stay, travel, health and accident insurance, and more. These may be related to financial costs and time resources. All such expenses shall be borne by the person participating in the mobility;
• Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, mobility may be canceled.

C) The basis for organizing the competition and the selection procedure

• Joint Order of the Rector and the Head of Administration of TSU on approval of the selection rule for International student exchange and mobility programs at LEPL - Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

• Following Article 49², Paragraph 4 of the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, students retain active enrolment at their home universities while on a study abroad. Therefore, successful completion of the administrative registration at TSU at the beginning of each semester spent abroad is mandatory! Noncompliance with this rule will result in the suspension of mobility.
