Call for TSU students of the first, the second, the third, and the fourth semester of Ph.D. level studies* to gain Erasmus + scholarships funded by the European Commission

 

 

!!! The implementation of physical mobility will depend on the epidemiological situation in Georgia and European countries, as well as on entry and stay regulations in the host country.

 

 

 

The call is valid for students of the first, the second, the third, and the fourth semester of Ph.D. level studies* to gain Erasmus + scholarships funded by the European Commission

The applicants for the given call should meet one of the below listed prerequisites

a) The following certificates taken at least 4 calendar years before the end of the registration of the current competition:

  • In case of English language: TOEFL (90 iBT), IELTS (6.5 minimum average score) or CAMBRIDGE (FCE) certificate;
  • In case of German language: TestDaF (TDN 3), DSH (DSH 1), DSD (B2), Goethe Certificate (90-100)
  • In case of French: DELF (B2), DALF (B2)
  • In case of Italian language: CILS (B2), PLIDA (B2)
  • In the case of Spanish: DELE (B2), eLADE (B2)
  • In case of Turkish language: TYS (B2)

 

b) The result of the institutional testing of foreign languages ​​organized by the University (not less than 71 points), which is valid during the semester of testing and for the next 1 semester (respectively, the results of testing on March 2 and October 6, 2021 are valid for the purposes of this competition);

 OR 

c) An official certificate of attendance at a foreign higher education institution for at least 1 semester, where the language of instruction was the language of instruction at the university / program you are applying for.

 

Selection process:

Stage 1: Eligibility check (Tbilisi State University);

Stage 2: Interview with Candidate Selection Commission (Tbilisi State University and/or host University);

Stage 3: Final Selection / Scholarship Award (Host University).

 

List of application documentation

  1. A copy of a passport (in case you do not have one, please upload a copy of your ID card); 
  2. CV in Europass format (in English);
  3. Certificate of enrollment at TSU (in English);
  4. A Transcript of Records of current academic level, with reference to the GPA (in English; scanned PDF version);
  5. Scanned PDF version of Master's Degree;
  6. A scanned copy of the Diploma Supplement with GPA Indication in English;
  7. Proof of foreign language proficiency (international language certificate or certificate of study abroad at the university level for at least 1 semester, if any. Applicants with the minimum score of 71 points in TSU institutional language test, do not need to upload a document);
  8. An Official certificate/document confirming disability, if applicable (scanned PDF version);
  9. Duly filled and signed learning agreement (check carefully the web page of the preferred European University, make note of courses relevant to your home faculty taking into careful consideration your study level and major field of study (program), consult with the home faculty Quality Assurance Service and then fill in the first page of the document; once filled, the document should be signed and stamped by a relevant representative of the home Faculty QA service and the applicant), appendix 1. (Please see the order/regulation);
  10. A letter of recommendation in English/Georgian language  (recommendation should be submitted electronically by filling in the questionnaire available in the mobility management portal (mobility.tsu.ge) ), by a recommender indicated in the application form by the applicant; the questionnaire is sent automatically to the e-mail address entered in the portal by the applicant).  
  11. A motivation letter (in English) with the following technical specifications:  length - no more than 1 page; font - Times New Roman, font size - 12, line spacing - 1.0, fields – 2cm. The motivation letter should be written in a relevant language (medium of instruction at the selected host institution/program).
  12. Research plan with the following technical specifications:  length - no more than 1 page; font - Times New Roman, font size - 12, line spacing - 1.0, fields – 2cm. The motivation letter should be written in a relevant language (medium of instruction at the selected host institution/program).
  13. Letter of interest (the official letter is not required, confirmation letter by e-mail is enough, issued by the relevant academic secretariat and/or professor of the host university).
  14. List of universities the applicant would like to be considered for; the list should be submitted in English language and the universities should be listed in alphabetical order. It is possible to apply for a maximum of 3 universities.

 

 

 

Students interested in applying for the program should register on the electronic registration portal mobility.tsu.ge , upload the full list of application documentation (in pdf format) and send the application electronically by 14:00, on November 1st,2021!

 

Scholarship includes: 

  1. Tuition waiver
  2. Monthly stipend in the amount stipulated by the EACEA (the amount of the scholarship varies by country)
  3. International travel costs (within the financial limit set by the EACEA, see the distance calculator for details)

 

 

Additional important information:

 

a) Electronic registration portal mobility.tsu.ge  

Please note that the mobility management portal mobility.tsu.ge mobility.tsu.ge:

  • Does not allow submissions after the deadline (at 14:00, November 1st,2021);
  • Does not allow registration of incomplete application package;
  • The application form is considered electronically submitted only after pressing the send button!
  • Upon successful submission of the application documentation, the applicant will receive a relevant email notification;
  • The time and date of the interviews will be sent individually to all applicants by e-mail indicated on the portal mobility.tsu.ge.
  • Applicants will be interviewed remotely! 

 

b) Finances and restrictions related to Covid-19

Please note that:

  • Physical mobility may be related to compliance with administrative rules and regulations regarding entry into the host country, such as PCR examination (once or repeatedly), stay in quarantine space, travel, health and accident insurance that is related to the financial costs and time resources. All such costs should be paid for by the selected student(s).
  • As a result of the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the selected student(s) will receive the first tranche of the scholarship no earlier than 6 weeks after arriving at the host university, registering at the local municipality and at the bank department.
  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in exceptional cases, mobility for the spring semester 2021 may be canceled or postponed until the fall semester of 2022-23 academic year!
  • Visa and travel insurance-related costs are not included in the scholarship and should be paid for by the selected student(s).

 

C) The basis for organizing the competition and the selection procedure

  • Following Article 492, Paragraph 4 of the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, students retain active enrolment at their home universities while on a study abroad. Therefore, successful completion of the administrative registration at TSU at the beginning of each semester spent abroad is mandatory! Noncompliance with this rule will result in the suspension of mobility.
