Vocational Students Visit the National Archive

Students of the vocational program "Office Administration" at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) Vocational Education Center had the opportunity to learn about the operations at the National Archive at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. The visit was conducted within the framework of the study module "Preparing Documents for Archival Transfer."

During the visit, the students toured the document repository of the National Archive where they explored historical and state-significant records. They also observed the work of the document restoration laboratory and received information on the functions and general principles of the National Archive’s operations.

According to vocational instructor Davit Rekvava, this is the second year that the vocational program has actively organized visits to the National Archive, allowing students to gain in-depth knowledge of archival management and storage processes.

"These visits provide students with valuable insights into archival operations and document preservation. This hands-on experience is a crucial component of their practical training, equipping them with the skills they need to successfully pursue careers in various organizations." Noted Davit Rekvava.

The visit proved to be a valuable experience for the students as well. Tinatin Gorelishvili, a student of the Office Administration program, emphasized that informational sessions and on-site exposure to archival work are both engaging and productive, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge. "At the National Archive, we explored storage rooms and repositories where documents, photographs, video materials, and ancient parchment manuscripts are processed and archived. We received a detailed explanation of the workflow which was both fascinating and practically useful for us," said Tinatin Gorelishvili.

TSU and the National Archive of Georgia actively collaborate in various areas, including supporting vocational education. One of the key aspects of this partnership is introducing young professionals interested in archival work to the specific processes and operational standards of this field.
