TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia met with university students whose tuition fees will be funded by Archimandrite Ephraim, abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi.
During the meeting, Rector Samushia discussed the significance of the Georgian monastery on Mount Athos and the contributions of Georgian monks. He also recalled Archimandrite Ephraim’s visit to TSU, during which he addressed spirituality in the modern era and the spiritual growth of young people. During the meeting, the abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery announced that he would award a one-year scholarship to ten students from large families.
“This is a great and kind deed that Father Ephraim has been doing for several years. This once again demonstrates the great support and goodwill that Father Ephraim has for Georgia and the Georgian people,” said Jaba Samushia.
The university’s scholarship competition selected ten students with the highest academic performance who are also children of large families.
Representatives of the TSU administration and Gedevan Gelbakhiani, who is actively involved in the cooperation between the university community and the Vatopedi Monastery, attended the meeting with the students. He congratulated the students on receiving the scholarship, wished them success, and offered future cooperation.
