Jaba Samushia Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Bakmi Publishing

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia and the Director of Bakmi Publishing, Rusudan Mosidze have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation under which Bakmi Publishing will donate new editions to the TSU Library.

 

According to Rector Jaba Samushia, TSU has the intellectual potential to supply the Georgian book market. About 60% of the authors of the books published by major publishing houses on the Tbilisi market are professors of Tbilisi State University. “Under the memorandum, we can plan joint publications of our publishing houses. Our goal is to support and promote our authors. I am glad that such cooperation has taken place between Tbilisi State University and Bakmi Publishing,” Rector Jaba Samushia said.

 

Rusudan Mosidze, Director of Bakmi Publishing, noted that publishing houses exist to support Georgian writers and scientists and to popularize their works. “Our publishing house is ready to use all available resources to popularize Georgian science. We are happy that our books will be housed in Tbilisi State University. We will deliver all new, different and interesting editions to the university,” she added.

 

The purpose of the cooperation is to enrich the TSU Library with new books. According to the memorandum, TSU will help Bakmi Publishing to present new editions and organize an exhibition and sale with special university discounts.

 

Zurab Gaiparashvili, the head of the TSU Library, said that it has become a tradition for Tbilisi State University to sign memorandums with renowned publishing houses, based on which the publishing houses donate outstanding literature to the university library. According to him, there is a special corner in the TSU Library where books from partner publishers are placed.
