Visit of French Documentarians

 

French documentary filmmakers Timothée Gutmann and Basile Carré, representing the film company Les grains de sable, visited the Department of Romance Philology at the Faculty of Humanities of TSU.

 

The French guests recorded an extensive interview with Professor Georges Ekizashvili, who spoke about the work of Alexandre Dumas, paying special attention to his famous book about traveling “Caucasus.”

 

Giorgi (Georges) Ekizashvili is a Georgian writer, poet, philologist, professor at Tbilisi State University. He is a specialist in French literature, teacher, author of many translations. Since his graduation, he has been working as a teacher at the Department of Foreign Literature of the Faculty of Western European Languages ​​and Literature. He has translated the works of Moliere, Guy de Maupassant, Jean-Paul Sartre, Charles Baudelaire, Françoise Sagan, Alain Robbe Grillet, Albert Camus, Maurice Maeterlinck, Pierre Péju, Michel Houellebecq, Andre Moreau, Arthur Rimbaud, Guillaume Apollinaire, and others. He is the winner of the Saba Literary Prize for the best translation of the year.

 

In 2001, he received the French Order of Academic Palms (The Ordre des Palmes Académiques) for his contribution to French culture.
