The International Workshop “Algebraic Geometry and Model Theory of Groups and Rings” opened at Tbilisi State University on August 26. The organizers of the event are: Mikheil Amaglobeli (Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi, Georgia); Tengiz Bokelavadze (Akaki Tsereteli State University, Kutaisi, Georgia); Alexei Miasnikov (Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, USA); and Olga Kharlampovich (New York University, USA). The event will end on August 29.
This is the fourth year that the workshop has been held at TSU. It is attended by 45 mathematicians from the United States, Canada, Italy, Israel, China, Brazil and Georgia. Among the attendees are world-class scientists, including Fields Medal laureate Efim Zelmanov (University of San Diego, USA; University of Science and Technology, China), as well as TSU professors and students.
The workshop will present results in algebraic geometry and model theory of groups and rings. On the first day of the workshop, there will be discussions on the use of artificial intelligence in mathematical research.
TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili; Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences Petre Babilua; President of the Georgian Mathematical Union, Academician Aleksandre Meskhi; Head of the TSU Mathematics Department, Professor Omar Purtukhia and others attended the opening.
It is planned to deepen cooperation with New York University, the Stevens Institute of Technology (USA), the University of Science and Technology of China and the University of Palermo (Italy) in developing mathematics and artificial intelligence.
