The Faculty of Humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted the conference “Vazha-Pshavela in European Translation Reality” as part of the annual conference series of the Department of Romance Philology at the Institute of Western European Languages and Literature.
The main topic of the conference was translation criticism, based on the analysis and evaluation of Vazha-Pshavela's translations, as well as various theoretical and practical aspects of literary translation. Topics discussed included: From Original to Translation; Specifics of Translating Literary Texts (Poetry and Prose); Translation or Interpretation; Difficulties of Translation and Contemporary Challenges.
The conference was open to students from the Romance Philology Circle, as well as other students interested in translation and translation criticism.
