Rector Opens Scientific Conference Dedicated to 148th Anniversary of Javakhishvili’s Birth

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia opened a scientific conference dedicated to the 148th anniversary of the birth of Academician Ivane Javakhishvili, famous Georgian scientist and public figure, founder of Tbilisi State University.

 

Rector Jaba Samushia spoke to the participants of the conference about the merits of the founder of the university. “The legacy of Ivane Javakhishvili is of great significance to all Georgians. Despite the passage of time, his contributions to the advancement of Georgian science and the Georgian state remain evident,” Rector Samushia said. According to him, Ivane Javakhishvili has created works in almost all directions, which are planned to be processed and republished at the university. It is also planned to find and publish Ivane Javakhishvili’s diploma thesis in Germany in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

 

The scientific conference was organized by the Faculty of Humanities of Tbilisi State University.

 

“Ivane Javakhishvili was born 148 years ago and was destined to become the most important figure of Georgian culture, science, and the history of Georgia in the 20th century. The role of Ivane Javakhishvili in the formation of the Georgian scientific language is particularly important. He developed the terminology of the relevant fields, and this terminology is currently in use throughout Georgia,” said Nona Gaprindashvili, Dean of the TSU Faculty of Humanities.

 

TSU academics presented scientific papers in different directions at the conference, which will last for two days.
