The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia, Edīte Medne.
The sides discussed the issues of mutual cooperation between Tbilisi State University and the higher educational institutions of the Republic of Latvia, as well as the implementation of joint educational and research projects.
The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Jaba Samushia noted that cooperation with the Baltic States is of strategic importance for Tbilisi State University. “The cooperation between our universities should be further strengthened. We will try to cooperate intensively in the implementation of exchange programs, summer schools, as well as in bringing our students and staff closer together,” Rector Samushia said.
Latvian Ambassador Edīte Medne promised to support the establishment of bilateral relations with the State University of Latvia, as well as with other Latvian universities, saying that Latvian higher educational institutions cooperate with Tbilisi State University through Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe projects. However, this cooperation should be further strengthened in various directions, she added.
Rector Jaba Samushia initiated the preparation of a joint publication of Tbilisi State University and University of Latvia - History of Georgia and Latvia, which will be published with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia and the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Latvia.
