An exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili has opened at Tbilisi State University.
The exhibition features items from Javakhishvili’s personal collection, which is kept in the University History Museum.
There are unique photographs depicting different periods of Ivane Javakhishvili's life, showing him in his family environment and presenting him as a great scientist and public figure.
The exhibition also features manuscripts reflecting Ivane Javakhishvili’s scientific heritage, as well as fragments covering the period of King Bagrat IV of Georgia, the era of David the Builder, information about George III and Queen Tamar, etc. (the scientist’s works, important documents kept in his personal archive, memoirs and epistolary heritage); personal and memorial items belonging to Ivane Javakhishvili.
The exhibition also presents Ivane Javakhishvili’s cartographic heritage, which reflects Georgia’s socio-economic, political, cultural and diplomatic processes. These include maps prepared by the great scientist together with professional cartographers:
