On September 26-27, 2025, a meeting was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with specialists from the regional public health services of Georgia.
The event was part of a partnership project between UNICEF and the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at TSU’s Faculty of Medicine (project leader Prof. Paata Imnadze). The meeting addressed important issues such as the impact of global challenges, climate change, air quality, water quality, plastic waste, e-waste and other factors on children's health.
Public health experts from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other authoritative international organizations emphasize, based on numerous scientific studies, that environmental factors have the greatest impact on human health. Children are particularly vulnerable to environmental factors, as confirmed by the latest data from the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
During the meeting, TSU Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the TSU Faculty of Medicine Nato Pitskhelauri; Associate Professors Maka Jorbenadze, Ketevan Dadiani, and Lasha Loria; invited lecturer Ekaterine Ruadze; IT Specialist Giorgi Sturua; and Professor Nata Kazakhashvili presented a new electronic learning program to the audience. The program discussed the impact of the environment on children's health. Nino Dzotsenidze, a representative of the UNICEF Georgia Office, attended the meeting.
