TSU team successfully completed its participation in the 8th edition of All-European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition

Tbilisi State University team successfully completed its participation in the 8th edition of All-European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition and finished the competition as runner-up!

The moot court competition is based on a Case Study which is carefully prepared by the organisers in cooperation with the ICRC and UNHCR and addresses the most pertinent and topical questions relating to international humanitarian and refugee law, drawing on the current crisis situations. It is designed to encourage students to study and understand the fundamental concepts of international humanitarian and refugee law by addressing concrete legal problems and practice their legal argumentation in front of experienced judges and panel members.

The TSU team was completed in 2023 by the International Law Institute, Faculty of Law, TSU with the students of Bachelor and Master Programs of International Law – Mariam Gugava, Khatia Tchitchinadze and Shalva Khizanishvili. The team's coach was Suliko Zhghenti, the alumni of the international law program, who herself is the participant and winner of several international and national moot court competitions.

This year, 16 teams from leading European Universities participated in the International Rounds. The TSU team competed against the teams of Greece and Slovakia in Final Rounds modeled after International Criminal Court (ICC)."
