Students of the Faculty of Medicine of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will undergo medical training at American Hospital Tbilisi.

Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze noted that educational and research activities between TSU and American Hospital Tbilisi will soon enter an active phase, adding that huge plans have been set out regarding student internships. “Our students will undergo training at American Hospital Tbilisi equipped with modern technology. Furthermore, several departments will work at the hospital that is a good opportunity for merging our research potential with practice,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

American Hospital Tbilisi has 183 beds (wards), providing services in accordance with international standards. The project has an ambition to set a new landmark on the map of Georgian medical services and become the first global-scale hospital in Georgia that will undergo full Joint Commission International (JCl) accreditation.

He reiterated readiness of American Hospital Tbilisi to cooperate with Tbilisi State University and its students as well as to promote their professional development.

The American Hospital Tbilisi was founded with the support of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), formerly known as OPIC, and in conformity with Georgian state interests. Direct investment in the project implementation exceeds USD 50 million.
