Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) reacts to the incident that took place in the vicinity of the TSU Library between the groups of young people. The TSU security services managed to defuse the tension as much as possible.
TSU students, professors and administration staff enjoy unlimited rights and freedoms granted by the Constitution of Georgia. For more than a century, the university has been serving to educate society, establish and strengthen democratic principles in the country.
Accordingly, the university supports only democratic forms of expression and at the same time, distances itself from bringing political processes into the university space. The administration will not allow any attempt of political confrontation in the university space and calls on all political forces to refrain from such actions.
The university once again emphasizes that any kind of violence is unacceptable and calls on young people to be more responsible in upholding human rights, to respect freedom of expression and refrain from provocative actions.
