TSU Saturday School for Ukrainian Pupils

Ukrainian school pupils temporarily studying at various schools of Tbilisi will join the Saturday School offered by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Various thematic lectures will be held at the Saturday School according to the interests of schoolchildren.

Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, Head of TSU Children’s University, Marine Lomouri, professors and students met with Ukrainian pupils and their parents. During the acquaintance meeting, Rector Sharvashidze spoke about the history of Tbilisi State University and the activities carried out by the Children’s University.

“Tbilisi State University continues to assist Ukraine. We offered Ukrainian pupils to participate in the TSU Saturday School that will allow them to receive additional education after school. We want to do our utmost to help Ukrainian pupils who are in need and stay in Georgia as refugees,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

Ukrainian pupils toured the museum spaces and library located in the 1st Building of TSU. Head of the Children’s University, Marina Lomouri, spoke with pupils about the educational, cultural and entertainment activities at the university.

“Since it is very important for Ukrainian children to feel happy and free, to get acquainted with Tbilisi and Georgia, one of the important aspects of this acquaintance should be our university. Today they are visiting us, hearing information about the history of our university, its present and future, familiarizing themselves with the learning process, our museum, library; I think, it will be interesting and very important for them,” Marina Lomouri said.

Within the framework of cooperation between the TSU Student Service and Career Development Center, TSU Children’s University and the Embassy of Ukraine to Georgia, Ukrainian pupils will attend a screening of the film “We Are Stars” in Ukrainian, while on April 17, they will attend a play at Griboedov Theatre.
