Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Andria Basilaia, Vice Rector of TSU, Nino Okribelashvili, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport as well as academics attended the event.

Rector George Sharvashidze said: “No surprise that the week dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of TSU opened with the presentation of its architect’s album. A lot of interesting events are planned during the week. Svimon Kldiashvili was the first Georgian professional architect and we are proud of all the monuments he left in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia. I am happy that TSU, together with partners, managed to publish this very good album on the 155th anniversary of Kldiashvili’s birth. The album will be interesting for the readers of all generations.”

Tbilisi State University prepared the album “Svimon Kldiashvili” with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the Tbilisi City Hall.

Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Andria Basilaia said: “It is important that the project was implemented despite a lot of difficulties amid the pandemic. With his architectural works, Kldiashvili made a huge contribution to the development of our city. I am glad that this album was published and everyone will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with his works.”

Zurab Gaiparashvili, one of the authors of the album “Svimon Kldiashvili,” noted that it is a monographic publication about the great public figure and architect. “The album contains almost all the works created by prominent architect and public figure, Svimon Kldiashvili that were stored in the archives, the National Centre of Manuscripts and the National Museum,” Gaiparashvili said.

The books donated by Svimon Kldiashvili to Tbilisi State University a century ago, as well as photo materials were exhibited at TSU on the sideline of the presentation.
