Jean Monet Project “Establishment of the Bachelor’s Program in European Studies”

The Institute for European Studies at Tbilisi State University hosted the 6th two-day workshop within the framework of the EU funded Jean Monnet Project “Establishment of the Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies at TSU.”
 

Administrative and academic staff of TSU Institute for European Studies, representatives of the TSU faculties and Quality Assurance Service, various stakeholders and students participated in the event.
 

In her welcome speech, Nino Lapiashvili, director of the Institute for European Studies and program coordinator, briefed the project participants on the agenda of the two-day meeting as well as the significance of the agenda issues in the process of European studies.
 

The workshop continued with a discussion on e-learning platforms relevant to bachelor and master’s programs in European Studies, led by Nato Chubinidze, head of the Information Technology Department at TSU, who during the two-day meeting discussed the best experience of online and e-learning using the example of Moodle, talked about the advantages of the Moodle system and the techniques of its use, as well as academic integrity and plagiarism control mechanism such as Turnitin.
 

In the final part of the workshop, the participants jointly analyzed the special importance of academic integrity as regards to the educational programs in European Studies, as well as the methodology of avoiding plagiarism in relation to intellectual property, determined the need for academic integrity reforms, including in terms of supporting the decision makers, and developed recommendations in this direction.
