Double Degree Master’s Program in European Studies at TSU

The Institute for European Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will implement a double degree master’s program jointly with Vilnius University Faculty of Law. This issue was discussed at the meeting between Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, Dean of Vilnius University Faculty of Law, Professor Tomas Davulis and Director of the TSU Institute for European Studies, Professor Nino Lapiashvili. Major issues related to the implementation of the double degree master’s program were discussed at the meeting.

Dean of Vilnius University Faculty of Law, Professor Tomas Davulis said the agreement opens up good opportunities for students to study in both Georgia and Lithuania and raise their qualification in their respective fields. He also noted that Vilnius University has a long partnership with Tbilisi State University.

“Within the framework of the interdisciplinary English-language master’s program of the TSU Institute for European Studies, in 2019, we launched negotiations with Vilnius University on elaborating a double degree program. Today, we just held a final meeting of these negotiations with the Rector of TSU. We hope that we will host students from both Georgia and Lithuania from the next year,” Nino Lapiashvili, Director of the TSU Institute for European Studies, said.

Within the framework of the double degree master’s program between Vilnius University Law Faculty and TSU Institute for European Studies, starting from the fall semester of the next academic year, all students of MA Program in European Studies who have been awarded a bachelor of law academic degree will be able to earn a double degree: from Tbilisi State University – Master of Arts in European Studies, and from Vilnius University - LLM in EU Law.
