The issues of cooperation between Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Armenian higher educational institutions in the fields of science and education were discussed at the meeting between TSU Acting Rector Jaba Samushia and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, Ashot Smbatyan.
At the introductory meeting, Acting Rector Jaba Samushia briefed the Armenian Ambassador on the establishment of the Department of Armenology at TSU a century ago. He noted that even then, the heads of the university had been aware of the importance of this field for Georgia. This laid the foundation for the scientific study of Armenology in Georgia.
During the conversation, the sides focused on strengthening Georgian studies at Yerevan State University and supporting Armenian studies at Tbilisi State University.
