Meeting with Delegation of Warsaw University

 

Academician Jaba Samushia, Rector of Tbilisi State University, held a working meeting with a delegation from the University of Warsaw (Poland).

During the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation between Tbilisi State University and the University of Warsaw was signed. In addition, an agreement was signed between the parties to establish a representation of the Caucasus Bureau of the Center for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw in Tbilisi State University.

Rector Jaba Samushia discussed deepening cooperation between Tbilisi State University and the University of Warsaw with his Polish colleagues. He expressed gratitude to the University of Warsaw for promoting the development of Kartvelian studies. “The University of Warsaw is our strategic partner. The memorandum between our universities will facilitate further expansion of our relationship at the faculty level. The University of Warsaw’s experience in education could be valuable to us. Additionally, it is possible to establish Georgian-Polish archaeological expeditions,” Jaba Samushia noted.

Jan Malicki, the Director of the Center for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw, stated that the signing of the memorandum with Tbilisi State University will significantly expand the existing relations between the two universities. He added that the two countries share a similar history, which makes this cooperation even more special.

The memorandum proposes the exchange of professors and students, joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, exchange of educational materials, and implementation of special short-term academic programs.

The working meeting was attended by deputy rectors, deans, administrative representatives, and professors from Tbilisi State University.
