Сall for applications for the research internship program at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany) for TSU students of PhD level studies.

 

!!! The implementation of the internship will depend on the epidemiological situation in Georgia and Germany

 

The given call is valid for TSU students of PhD level studies from the following academic fields: Political Science, International Relations, German Philology, Psychology, Humanities (except languages), Law

 

Internship duration:  3 (three) month;

Period/semester of mobility: internship should be implemented till December 31, 2021;

Total amount of funding per student:  3.600 Euros. 

 

The applicants for the given call should meet one of the below-listed prerequisites.

1. Own one of the following English or German language proficiency certificates (B2 level)::

a) In case of English - TOEFL, IELTS or CAMBRIDGE certificate. The certificate should be taken no earlier than 2 calendar years before the application deadline;

b) In case of German - TestDaF, DSH, DSD, Goethe Certificate;

c) TSU institutional language test results (5 October 2020, or the 2 March 2021; with a minimum score of 71 points);

d) Certificate of study abroad at a university level for a minimum of 1 semester on a fully English or German instructed program.

e) In case of pedagogical experience at the university level, a certificate issued by the employer confirming the experience of teaching in German or English;

 

 

Selection process:

Stage 1: Eligibility check (Tbilisi State University);

Stage 2: Interview with the selection committee (Tbilisi State University and Friedrich Schiller University Jena);

Stage 3: Nomination for mobility (Tbilisi State University)/scholarship award (Friedrich Schiller University Jena).

 

 

Required documents:

  1. A copy of a passport;
  2. CV in Europass Format in English or in German ;
  3. Certificate of enrollment at TSU with semester in English (For students who do not have active student status: please upload a copy of the decree on the enrollment at a PhD program);
  4. A Transcript of Records of current academic level (in English; the document should indicate the GPA);
  5. A certificate of foreign language competence (see above the Prerequisites section);
  6. A copy of the Master’s diploma, (scanned version);
  7. A copy of the Diploma Supplement (in English; the document should indicate the GPA);
  8. Motivation letter with research plan no more than 3 pages (in English or in German); Technical specifications: font - Times New Roman, font size - 12, line spacing - 1.0, fields – 2cm. The motivation letter should be written in the language that will be the working language of the grantee during the research internship period;
  9. Letter of interest from the host university (an official letter is not required, a confirmation letter by e-mail is enough, issued by the relevant academic secretariat and/or professor of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena).
  10. A letter of recommendation in English or German (recommendation should be submitted electronically by filling in the questionnaire available in the mobility management portamobility.tsu.ge, by a recommender indicated in the application form by the applicant; the questionnaire is sent automatically to the e-mail address entered in the portal by the applicant).  

 

Interested eligible PhD students should register on mobility.tsu.ge, upload the full application package (in PDF format) and submit it no later than 14:00 on June 17th, 2021.

 

 

Grant includes:

  1. Free use of research resources;  
  2. Funding amount no more than 3600 euros;

 

 

Additional important information:

 

a) Electronic registration portal mobility.tsu.ge  

Please note that the mobility management portal mobility.tsu.ge mobility.tsu.ge:

  • Does not allow submissions after the deadline (14:00, 17th of June, 2021.);
  • Does not allow to register an incomplete application package. 
  • The application form is considered electronically submitted only after pressing the send button. 
  • Upon successful submission of the application, the applicant will receive a relevant email notification.
  • The date and time of the interview will be communicated individually to all applicants on the e-mail address indicated in the portal mobility.tsu.ge.
  • Applicants will be interviewed remotely in a language used as a medium of instruction at the selected host institution(s)!

 

b) Finances and restrictions related to Covid-19

Please note that:

  • Physical mobility may be related to compliance with administrative rules and regulations regarding entry into the host country, such as PCR examination (once or repeatedly), stay in quarantine space, travel, health and accident insurance that is related to the financial costs. All such costs should be paid for by the selected student(s).
  • As a result of the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the selected student(s) will receive the first tranche of the funding no earlier than 6 weeks after arriving at the host university, registering at the local municipality and at the bank department.
  • International travel costs and travel insurance-related costs are not included in the scholarship and should be paid for by the selected student(s).
