New Academic Year with New Plans

By decision of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, the TSU Center of Vocational Education will receive more than GEL 1.3 million this year for rehabilitation works of its educational building in Kutaisi.

The Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, visited the TSU Vocational Education Center in Kutaisi, where he congratulated students on the start of the academic year and wished them a productive learning process. The event was attended by TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia; Deputy Minister Zviad Gabisonia; Vice-Rector Kakhaber Cheishvili; Head of the University Administration Lasha Saghinadze; Head of the TSU Vocational Education Center Levan Tsikaridze; as well as representatives of the Center and vocational programme implementers.

Together with the TSU Rector, the Minister toured the educational infrastructure and discussed future cooperation. According to him, vocational directions established by higher education institutions represent a very important component, which is why the Ministry decided to allocate funding to Tbilisi State University for rehabilitation and renovation works. “We have decided to allocate more than GEL 1.3 million to the University so that renovation works begin this year and are completed by the summer of 2026. As a result, approximately 900–1,000 interested individuals will be able to develop their professional competencies and skills in various fields simultaneously,” noted Givi Mikanadze.

In 2025, nearly 500 students began their studies across 18 vocational programmes at TSU’s Centers in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. Demand for TSU vocational programmes continues to grow each year. For the 2025 admission cycle alone, more than 2,000 applicants registered. All vocational programmes offered at TSU are 100% state-funded.
