Students from the Vocational Education Center of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University visited the Tbilisi clinic of Geo Hospitals. Nona Goshadze, Head of the Nursing Service at Geo Hospitals and coordinator of the “Nursing Education” vocational program (Tbilisi), hosted the students together with the head nurses of the clinic’s leading departments.
The visit was carried out within the framework of the project “Let’s Learn, Make Friends, and Discover Georgia – Extracurricular Activities for a Sustainable Future.”
The vocational students toured the clinic and learned how various departments operate, including adult and pediatric emergency care, admissions, intensive care, surgery, pediatrics, and others. They had the opportunity to observe the actual working environment in which they will be employed in their future profession.
As Nona Goshadze noted, the students found it particularly valuable to see how the theoretical knowledge acquired through their vocational modules is applied in practice. They observed how nurses communicate with patients, maintain patient confidentiality and protect personal data, follow hygiene and safety protocols, use high-tech medical equipment in their daily work, and actively participate in carrying out medical prescriptions.
“This was the students’ first introductory visit to a medical institution — an important step in the process of studying their profession, before they begin hands-on clinical training,” said the head of the “Nursing Education” vocational program. “The visit was very engaging for them; they asked many questions and received comprehensive answers.”
The Vocational Education Center of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University launched the “Nursing Education” vocational program in 2024. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to practical training, which is conducted in clinical settings. One of the key partners in this direction is the Geo Hospitals network, which unites 25 medical institutions across Tbilisi and the regions.
