Jaba Samushia Signs Memorandum with the Center for Vocational Training and Retraining of Convicts

The Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Jaba Samushia, and the Director of the Center for Vocational Training and Retraining of Convicts under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Tamta Demurishvili, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

 

This memorandum aims to support the social integration, rehabilitation, and resocialization of convicts and former prisoners through the joint implementation of vocational training and retraining programs. Additionally, it seeks to promote personal development, raise awareness about the importance of education and employment, and contribute to crime prevention in the country.

 

The signing ceremony was attended by Kakhaber Cheishvili, Head of the TSU Vocational Education Center, Giorgi Grigolashvili, Head of the TSU Student Services and Career Development Center, as well as invited guests.

 

Under the memorandum, the parties will not only implement vocational training and retraining programs but also organize employment preparation initiatives, including training sessions, job fairs, meetings, and rehabilitation activities to facilitate employment opportunities.

 

The cooperation also includes information exchange, the provision of recommendations when necessary, and the development of joint programs and services within the available resources.

 

During the event, TSU Rector Jaba Samushia expressed readiness to deliver public lectures for convicts on interesting topics from Georgian history.

 

TSU has been offering vocational education programs since 2007, and since 2019, the TSU Vocational Education Center has been responsible for their administration.

All vocational programs at TSU are 100% state-funded.

 

Currently, around 400 students are enrolled in eight vocational programs in Tbilisi and Kutaisi, including:

📌 Customs Affairs

📌 Event Management

📌 Office Administration

📌 Financial Services

📌 Library Work

📌 Freight Logistics

 

The TSU Vocational Education Center also offers vocational training and retraining programs in areas such as event management, office administration, cashier operations in retail, warehouse logistics, laboratory health and safety, and more.
