Vocational Practice at Kutaisi Public Library

TSU vocational students frequently visit the Ilia Chavchavadze Kutaisi Public Library, one of the key practice sites where they gain hands-on experience in library work alongside their theoretical studies.

As Eka Barabadze, the head of the vocational program “Library Work” (Kutaisi), emphasized, practical experience is crucial for future librarians. Therefore, each student receives maximum support in developing their professional skills. "A productive librarian is one who, in addition to theoretical learning, gains practical experience. This ensures that when they start working in libraries of various institutions, they can establish themselves in the field with confidence," said Eka Barabadze.

The vocational program “Library Work” is led by highly qualified, experienced instructors, ensuring a high-quality education. According to Irma Benidze, a professional teacher and restorer at Ilia Chavchavadze Kutaisi Public Library, students regularly visit practice sites to enhance their professional skills. "We take our students to the public library daily because it serves as our primary practice site. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical training, they develop into highly qualified librarians," she noted.

Vocational student Juna Kepuladze believes that the program is making the librarian profession more in demand in society. "The practical component helps us deepen and reinforce our knowledge. Personally, I am employed at a school library, and the practical skills I acquired during my studies have been invaluable in my work," said Juna Kepuladze.
