A solemn graduation ceremony was held for the 2021-2022 graduates of the Vocational Education Center at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU).
The event was attended by TSU Vice-Rector Nino Okribelashvili, Chancellor Lasha Saginadze, Head of the Vocational Education Center Kakhaber Cheishvili, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Skills Agency, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, as well as vocational program managers and teachers.
TSU Rector Jaba Samushia met with the graduates and congratulated them on the successful completion of their programs.
"The graduates who pursued their studies during the pandemic are now entering their professional careers. I am confident that the knowledge and skills they have acquired here will be valuable in any field. Whether through higher or vocational education, TSU is committed to ensuring the teaching and learning process meets the highest standards." said TSU Vice-Rector Nino Okribelashvili.
In 2021-2022, a total of 386 students graduated from TSU Center of Vocational Education. Vocational education programs have been implemented at TSU since 2007, and since 2019, their administration has been overseen by the center of Vocational Education. All vocational programs offered at TSU are fully funded by the state.
At the event, the Head of the TSU Center of Vocational Education, Kakhaber Cheishvili, spoke about the alignment of theoretical and practical components in TSU vocational programs, the necessary infrastructure, and graduate employment opportunities. According to him, "Vocational education is of great importance and priority for our country. The Minister of Education and Science, Giorgi Amilakhvari, has also emphasized this direction and expressed his support for vocational programs."
Currently, around 400 students are enrolled in eight vocational programs in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. These students are of various ages and professional backgrounds, all aiming to acquire a new profession.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to the university for the knowledge and experience I have gained during this period. This knowledge has been useful not only in my professional life but also in everyday life. Thanks to this program, I have made significant progress after graduation," said Sopio Kvashilava, a graduate of TSU "Event Management" vocational program.
In 2022, the TSU Center of Vocational Education admitted students in Tbilisi and Kutaisi to the following programs: Accounting, Preschool Education, Customs Affairs, Event Management, Office Administration, Financial Services, Library Work, and Freight Transport Logistics.
