The international conference “Opportunities and Barriers in Oncological Disease Therapy: Cancer and Heart” took place at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. It was organized jointly by the Georgian Society of Cardio-Oncology, TSU, and the Georgian Society of Cardiology.
The conference was opened by TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia. The following people welcomed the guests: Nino Sharashidze, TSU Professor and President of the Georgian Society of Cardio-Oncology; Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia; Professor Rusudan Agladze, President of the Georgian Society of Cardiology; Maia Bitskinashvili, Dean of the TSU Faculty of Medicine; Nino Kajaia, Executive Director of the Georgian Society of Cardio-Oncology.
Both Georgian and foreign experts, including cardiologists, oncologists, hematologists, surgeons and radiologists participated in the conference. Among the foreign speakers were renowned physicians from Istanbul’s Liv Hospital.
Young cardiologists and doctoral students presented their research results at the event. Notably, the TSU Faculty of Medicine is successfully implementing a doctoral program in cardio-oncology.
