Jaba Samushia Hosts Rectors of German Universities

To deepen the cooperation with German universities, the Rector of Tbilisi State University, Jaba Samushia met with the rectors, presidents and vice rectors of 20 German universities. The meeting focused on deepening the existing cooperation between TSU and German universities and establishing new relations.

Within the framework of the meeting with representatives of German universities, TSU Rector Jaba Samushia and the President of the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (the Federal Republic of Germany) Karl Stoffel signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities. The event was attended by Gebhard Reul, Head of the DAAD Regional Office Tbilisi, professors and teachers, as well as representatives of the administration from the University of Koblenz and TSU.

Pursuant to the agreement, a joint bachelor’s degree program has been established in business administration, specifically in the domain of “Sustainable Transformation Management.” Work on the joint project has been in progress for several years. The memorandum facilitates the initiation of the bachelor’s program in the near future, with the initial enrollment of students.

Tbilisi State University has been cooperating closely with Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for many years. In 2016-2023, the Caucasus Summer School in Business Administration and Management was held annually under the direction of Prof. Dr. Magdalena Stülb, which was alternately hosted by TSU and the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. During these years, many German students and professors visited Tbilisi and familiarized themselves with Georgia within the framework of the summer school.

In addition, there is active cooperation between TSU and Koblenz University of Applied Sciences within the framework of the EU-funded Erasmus+ program. As part of this program, many students and professors from TSU’s Faculty of Economics and Business have visited Germany and spent an exchange semester in the city of Remagen.
