Presentation of Georgian Edition of Book Album “Hagia Sophia: The Churches of Wisdom of God in the World”

A presentation of the Georgian edition of the book album “Hagia Sophia: The Churches of Wisdom of God in the World” was held at Tbilisi State University (TSU).

The event, dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of Christianity, was organized by the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) and TSU.

TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia; MP Irakli Kadagishvili; Sozar Subari, Vice Speaker of Parliament; Andria Jagmaidze, Archpriest and head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Department;  Konstantinos Mygdalis, Advisor to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy; Prof. Erekle Astakhishvili, TSU Deputy Rector; Valeri Asatiani, TSU Professor and Academician; and Maximos Charakopoulos, Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy and Member of the Greek Parliament, delivered welcoming speeches to the audience.

The book brings together articles about 37 historical churches located in different countries around the world, from Scotland to China, that are related to the wisdom of God. The publication devotes a special place to the Hagia Sophia of Constantinople, one of the most important symbols of world Christian culture and Orthodoxy.

Historians, Byzantine scholars, architects, and other specialists in the field prepared the articles. The publication has already been translated into 15 languages, and in 2023 the Academy of Athens awarded it its annual prize.

The presentation was attended by university students and professors, members of the Georgian Parliament, and representatives of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy from various European countries.
