A public discussion titled “Building Mountain Destination Crises Resilience in the Alps and Caucasus” (ReMoDe) was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University organized as part of a collaboration between Tbilisi State University and the University of Innsbruck. The ReMoDe project is funded by the OeAD, Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalization, under the APPEAR program.
At the event, the ReMoDe team presented the project's key achievements and research findings, officially announcing the creation of a laboratory to serve as a platform for research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and future joint initiatives.
The event was attended by Nino Gvenetadze, Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University; Robert Gerschner, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Georgia; representatives of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA); as well as Austrian and Georgian researchers, partners, and stakeholders involved in the project.
The main topic of the public discussion was Austrian-Georgian cooperation in mountain research and sustainable development. Particular attention was paid to the role of higher education institutions in research, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and enhancing the resilience of mountain tourism destinations.
The event provides an opportunity to strengthen existing cooperation among Austrian, Georgian, and European institutions and develop new joint initiatives.
