Professor Sandrine Lacombe of Paris-Saclay University and the CNRS Orsay Institute of Molecular Sciences gave a public lecture entitled “Cancer Treatment with Innovative Radiotherapy Methods” at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, claiming an estimated 9.6 million lives in 2018. Treatments typically include surgery and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy, a relatively new treatment method, is used in 50% of cases.
The new treatment strategy combines radiation with nanomedicine, which could revolutionize cancer treatment.
