Center for Kartvelian Studies to be Established at Yerevan State University

The Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia hosted the Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan and other members of the delegation. 
 

The sides discussed issues of development and deepening of educational and scientific relations between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia. In particular, they discussed the details of the establishment of the Center for Kartvelian Studies at Yerevan State University and the issue of strengthening the undergraduate and graduate programs in Armenian Studies at the TSU Faculty of Humanities.
 

Within the framework of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation between Tbilisi State University and Yerevan State University was signed by TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia and Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
 

The memorandum will contribute to the strengthening of ties between the higher education, scientific and research institutions of the two countries, as well as to the development of mutual exchange programs for students. According to the memorandum, students of the Armenology Department of TSU will carry out mobility at Yerevan State University, and students of the Kartvelology Department of Yerevan University will visit Tbilisi State University. In addition, joint scientific conferences will be held to share experience.
 

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nunu Mitskevich, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of TSU, Nana Gaprindashvili, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of TSU, Tea Gergedava, TSU employees participated in the meeting.
 

The Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan and other members of the delegation are visiting Tbilisi on the invitation of Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
