Gori State University Turns 90

Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, along with Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, and representatives of other universities and educational institutions, participated in an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Gori State University.

Rector Samushia acknowledged the contributions made by Gori University to the development of education and science in the region and the country. “Tbilisi State University has always had close ties with Gori University. Our faculty members have taught at this university. This cooperation continues today,” said Jaba Samushia.

An educational institution has operated in Gori since the second half of the 19th century, playing a major role in the development of the country and its population. The two-year pedagogical institute that opened in Gori in 1935 served this purpose, and it was on this foundation that Gori State University was formed.
