The Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Center at Tbilisi State University continues to promote innovative technologies and support the development of practical skills among students.
This time, the Center offers a course in FPV Drone Engineering, which includes both theoretical and practical modules — aiming to engage students in the processes of drone assembly, configuration, and technical diagnostics.
📘 Theoretical Module
- Drone structure and operating principles — identifying components and their interactions;
- Fundamentals of aviation and aerodynamics — flight dynamics, center of gravity, and balance;
- Power management — battery types, efficiency, and safety;
- Frequencies, signals, and communication protocols;
- Flight controllers (FC), ESC, VTX, and RX modules — functions and setup principles;
- Safety and regulations — technical standards and responsibility frameworks;
- Engineering ethics and pilot responsibility from a technical perspective.
🛠️ Practical Module
- Identifying and assembling FPV drone components;
- Programming and tuning the flight controller (using Betaflight, BLHeli, and other systems);
- Electronic diagnostics — identifying and repairing damaged components;
- Testing on simulators — analyzing flight models and improving stability;
- Real-world test flights and technical monitoring;
- Integrating video recording systems and processing data.
🎓 After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Independently assemble and configure an FPV drone;
- Perform technical diagnostics and component replacement;
- Conduct software tuning and optimize flight control;
- Work on team-based engineering projects and participate in technology competitions.
