Visit to the United States within the Framework of the International iCREATE Project

Professor Nino Chikhladze of the TSU Faculty of Medicine and medical student Tamar Gachechiladze participated in the SAVIR Annual Conference, “Building and Strengthening the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research,” held on April 13–15, 2026, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. During the visit to the United States, Professor Nino Chikhladze also took part in a working meeting with the coordinator of the project “Increasing Capacity in Research in Eastern Europe” (iCREATE), Professor Cara Hamann of the University of Iowa, to discuss administrative matters related to the project. Representatives of TSU presented their research findings in the form of poster presentations.

Participation in the conference was important for gaining insight into current research directions and scientific potential in the field of injury prevention in USA. Within available opportunities, the knowledge and experience acquired will be integrated into the research projects planned within the Master’s and Doctoral programs of the Department of Public Health. Based on the experience gained through the conference and the project activities, the translation and adaptation of various educational and training materials are already underway. These include supplementary resources that will be incorporated into the elective curriculum component “Injury Prevention” at the Faculty of Medicine, as well as educational materials specifically designed for the prevention of injuries among children.
