The TSU Department of Political Science was founded in 1992, and in 2005, it merged with the newly established Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. 
Educational programs at three degree levels provide in-depth knowledge in all fields of political science, including political theory; comparative politics and party systems; regional research focused on Central and Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and post-Soviet space; research on corruption; public policy and administration; civic education and activism; geopolitics and political violence.   
Graduates of political science education programs are actively participating in building a democratic society through developing analytical skills, interpreting political processes and carrying out independent research.
