On December 24, at 12:00, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will host a public lecture “Why Cultural Psychology? Is not Cross-Cultural Psychology Enough?” by world-renowned Professor Jaan Valsiner. The lecture will be organized by the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and Programs of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of TSU.
 

Jaan Valsiner is one of the most important transdisciplinary cultural psychologists of our time. In 2021, the American Psychological Association (APA) presented him with a special award for special contributions to the development of psychological science.
 

In 2017, he won the Hans Kilian Award in Germany, and in 1995, he was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Prize. Jaan Valsiner is currently Emeritus of the legendary Department of Psychology at Clark University (USA) and Acting Professor at Aalborg University (Denmark). At the same time, he gives lectures in many universities of different countries of the world (Brazil, Chile, Japan, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, Estonia, Germany, etc.).
 

Jaan Valsiner is the author of about 50 books and about 600 scientific articles. Among his most important monographs are: «The guided mind» (Cambridge, Ma.: Harvard University Press, 1998), «Culture in minds and societies» (New Delhi: Sage, 2007), and «Ornamented Lives» (Charlotte NC: Information Age, 2019). He is the founder and editor-in-chief of a number of scientific journals.
