Exhibition of University Artists at TSU

 

An exhibition of works by TSU graduate artists was held in honor of the 150th anniversary of Ivane Javakhishvili. At the opening, TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, stated that “this exhibition is yet another proof that no matter what profession TSU graduates pursue, they never break ties with the university.”

The exhibition features the works of 27 distinguished artists from different generations working in various fields. Among them are: Gogi Khutsishvili, who studied at the Sorbonne University and the Paris School of Fine Arts after graduating from the Faculty of Art History at Tbilisi State University, and whose works are preserved in a number of international museums and private collections; Rezo Esadze, who graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Tbilisi State University and is a famous film director, screenwriter, actor, painter, and poet; Gogi Ochiauri, a famous sculptor and graphic artist who continued his professional activities at the Academy of Arts after graduating from Tbilisi State University.

The exhibition also features the following TSU alumni: Tamar Kharabadze, Lulu Dadiani, Ida Otskheli, Rusudan Khantadze-Andronikashvili, Medea Imerlishvili, Roman Kupreishvili, Davit Gagoshidze, Ketevan Kobakhidze, Davit Silagadze, Maia Avlokhashvili, Andro Ambartsumian, Mariam Chilashvili, Nina Vadachkoria, Nato Bakradze, Khatuna Peradze, Tamar Lomidze, Tiko Kobakhidze, Uta Gvimradze, Tamila Arishvili, Inga Amiriani, Irma Bibiluri, Ilia Chrelashvili, Khatuna Songhulashvili and Levan Kipiani.

The TSU Library organized the event to bring together different generations of university students.

Artist Maia Avlokhashvili donated the Qajar Series (six works) and a portrait of Maiko Orbeliani to the library. Artist Khatuna Peradze created a new canvas “Vazha” specially for the library.

A catalog of the participating artists’ works was created as part of the event.
